The type one diabetics who participated in the walk.
Ever since the idea of "Allie's Walk to Cure Diabetes" my family, friends, physicians, and school have been very supportive of me and I want to raise money to help other juvenile diabetic patients, and to find a cure for diabetes. To do so, my family and I are coordinating our 3rd Annual Allie’s Walk to Cure Diabetes to be held on September 25, 2011 at the Mineral County Fairgrounds. With both the 2009 and 2010 walk combined we all helped raise $12,000 dollars to give to JDRF! I need your help to make 2011 just as or even more successful than both year! All proceeds will go directly to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.  Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, and can be fatal.  Until a cure is found, people with type 1 diabetes have to test their blood sugar and give themselves insulin injections multiple times or use a pump - each day, every day of their lives.  And even with that intensive care, insulin is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications, which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, and amputation. “Allie’s Walk to Cure Diabetes” is seeking monetary donations and packet materials (example: business cards, pens, coupons, magnets, trail size food items, informational brochures). We are expecting 150 participants. See the enclosed flyer for sponsor levels. Monetary donations (please submit donations by August 27th to be included on T-shirts), and promotional materials can be mailed to Allie’s Walk to Cure Diabetes, please go to "contact" above and email us for the address. Make checks payable to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This is a non-profit benefit and all proceeds go to JDRF, which is a solo company.
